Vanderlande\u2019s Facilities team has long been involved in energy-saving measures and sustainability ambitions. As such, the idea to install solar panels on the campus in Veghel had been in the pipeline for some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe wanted to achieve a \u2018BREEAM* Outstanding\u2019 rating for the new office building (60) and with an SDE+ subsidy** in place, we began a study of whether we could expand the number of solar panels on site,\u201d says Vanderlande\u2019s Executive Manager Real Estate, Erik-Jan Dik. \u201cHowever, the panels couldn\u2019t all fit on Building 60, so we chose to install them across the rest of the campus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The panels work by using photo-voltaic cells to convert solar energy into electricity. Generated power is either supplied to the national electricity grid, stored or used directly.
